Do You Know Jesus?
3 Reasons
Why You Need Jesus…
Jesus loves you! He desires to have a relationship with you, and to give you a life full of joy and purpose. Why do you need Him in your life?
1. Because you have a past. You can’t go back, but He can. The Bible says “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He can walk into those places of sin and failure, wipe the slate clean, and give you a new beginning.
2. Because you need a friend. Jesus knows the worst about you, yet He believes the best. Why? Because He sees you not as you are, but as you will be when He gets through with you. What a friend He is!
3. Because He holds the future. Who else are you going to trust? In His hands you are safe and secure – today, tomorrow, and for all eternity. His Word says, “For I know the plans I have for you… plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you” (Jeremiah 29:11-12).
HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN
Some people think a personal relationship with God is something they could never have. Actually, God’s desire to save you and show you how much He loves you makes this relationship available to you. Here it is, explained in three steps.
Admit
Admit to God that you are a sinner. This is the first step in turning from sin and turning toward God. Each of us has a problem that Bible calls sin. Sin is refusal to acknowledge God’s authority over our lives. Everyone who does not live a life of perfect obedience to the Lord is guilty of sin. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Since none of us is perfect, all of us are sinners (Romans 3:10-18). Because, by God’s perfect standard, everyone is guilty, we are all subject to eternal punishment for sin (Romans 6:23). Everyone needs to have a relationship with Jesus, to be rescued, because sin condemns everyone. Admit that you are a sinner in need of God’s help and forgiveness.
Believe
Believe in Jesus Christ as God’s Son and receive Jesus’ gift of forgiveness from sin. God loves each of us so much. God offers us salvation. Although we have done nothing to deserve His love and salvation, God longs to save us from sin. In the death of Jesus on the cross, God provided salvation for all who would repent, or turn, from their sins and believe and follow Jesus. “For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Confess
Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This means when you have received Jesus Christ into your life, tell others about it. Tell your pastor if you have one, or a Christian friend about your decision. Follow the example of Jesus and ask for baptism by immersion in a local, Bible believing church as a public statement of your faith. “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).
